Windows 95/98/2000/2003 Server/ME/XP/Vista
128 MB of RAM (256 recommended)
Internet connection

How do I start it? [Top]
After you have installed it, open your start-menu and click on 'Programs', under that tab you will see a group called '#1 Bulk PageRank Checker Shareware'.

How do I use it?
[Top]
The URL's that you would like to check should either be in a standard text-file with each URL on a separate line. Or you can also load a value-separated file, that requires you to specify in which column that the URL appears and what character that is used to separate the columns. The ability to change those options appear once you have selected your input file. Once you have selected your input file (refered to as the field "Read from" in the program), you can go check out the "Options" window to see if there is something you need to change. I will explain each option further down in this help-section. Once you are happy with your settings, click on "Saving" to specify the manner in which you would like to save the results. Then click on "Start" and you are all set.

How are the results saved?
[Top]
Click on "Saving" and you will be able to chose two different options for saving the results. The first option allows you to save all of the results in a CSV type format file with two columns, URL and PageRank. The other saving option will let you save each URL with a specific PageRank to a directory of your choice. For example, URL's with PageRank 4 will be saved to 4.txt in that directory. Remember that the previous results will be overwritten when you start the program, so save to a different path or make backups if you don't wanna lose them.

Why should I purchase the full version?
[Top]
The free Shareware version has some limitations compared to the registered full version. All these limits will be removed when you purchase the full version. For a list of the limitations please see the buy now page.

Options
[Top]
There are many useful options in #1 Bulk PageRank Checker to give you as much control as possible. I will try and explain each one of them as clearly as possible in here.

Connections
You can chose to use between 1 to 10 simultaneous connections for connecting to Google when checking the PageRank of URL's in your list.

Timeout
Tells the program how long to wait for a response from one of the open connections. If no response has been received in this time then the URL that was being checked will be marked as "Socket error".

Stop checking if Google is blocking you
If #1 Bulk PageRank Checker determines that you have been blocked by Google then it will terminate all connections and alert you of the situation.

Only save URL's that have at least PageRank X
If an URL doesn't have a PageRank equal to or greater than this value then it will not be saved at all to any location.

Enable PageRank Statistics
This logs and keeps all checked URL's in memory along with it's corresponding PageRank. The results can be viewed by clicking on the "PR STATS" button in the main window. If you are checking more than 100,000 URL's this function may start to take up unreasonable amounts of RAM and slow down your checking, this is why you might wanna consider disabling that feature if that is the case.

Check only the domain of URL's
Extracts the domain from each loaded URL and checks just that, when the results are saved only the domains are saved.

Add www. to URL's where it isn't found
If the program loads an url that looks like "http://hello.com" or "hello.com" from your input file then it would be changed to "http://www.hello.com" and "http://www.hello.com".

Include/Exlude URL's

Default - When this is selected, which is be default, then the include/exclusion options will NOT be enabled.
Only include URL's that contain these strings - Only the URL's that contain one of the strings specified in the box below will be included, if it wouldn't then it would be skipped and not saved to any path.
Exclude URL's that contain these strings - All URL's that contain any of the strings in the box below this option will be skipped and not saved to any path.

Maximum number of queries to perform (Mode #1)
If this setting has been selected then the program will pause when the limit has been reached. This enables you to for example never make more than 5,000 queries per hour when checking without proxies from 1 single IP. It's a very useful setting to keep you from not getting blocked by Google.

HTTP proxys (Mode #2)
This option enables you to connect to Google via HTTP proxys which you can load from a plain textfile or add manually into the program. Only HTTP proxys are supported. Use this mode if you can't check PageRank directly or by using Personal Web Proxys. Don't forget to enable the option "Connect via Proxy(s)" if you want to use this option. Speed tends to be lower when using HTTP proxys compared to checking directly or via Personal Web Proxys. The field "Max number of attempts per proxy" is the number of times a proxy can fail in a row before being marked as invalid and ignored for the rest of the checking-session.

Personal Web Proxys (Mode #3)
This mode allows you to use a PHP script which you can install on any webhosting that you have which supports PHP with the addon cURL. It's a very good solution that will keep the errors at an absolute minimum while still not revealing your IP. If you use this option it's recommended that you install the script on a few different webhosting servers (with different IP's) to keep heat off your servers. If you still get blocked, then try combining this mode with mode number one to limit the number of queries that the scripts make per minute or hour.
Click here to download the PHP proxy script.

The PageRank stats window offers you a good clear breakdown of the URL's with their PageRank. Click on a number from 0 to 10 and on Errors to see the URL's for that PageRank (or errors). The "Save" button allows you export the URL's to a standard textfile. The button "Open URL" does exactly that in your browser with the selected URL. This window will be cleared and previous results lost once you click on "Start".

What is Google PageRank?
[Top]
Google PageRank is a website ranking system developed by Google to measure the popularity of a specific website URL. The scale stretches from 0-10 where 10 is the highest.

It's says I've been temporarily blocked by Google?
[Top]
If you perform too many PageRank queries from the same IP in a too short timespan Google will temporarily block all queries from that IP. So if you have many thousand sites to check, then you might wanna use the option "Maximum number of queries to perform" with the default value in it. Or you can use Personal Web Proxys, read more about that under options. Your last option is to use HTTP proxys which information about also can be found under options. Anyway, if you've been blocked by Google then don't worry, the ban is temporary and will pass in a few hours or so.

It won't start, it says I'm missing some file? [Top]
If the program says that you're missing an OCX or DLL file then download and install this file from the Microsoft website (restart your computer after you have installed it): Runtime library
If it still won't work then contact us and tell us what file that you are missing.

The Automatic updater always times out or can't connect? [Top]
Make sure that you have set your firewall to allow the Automatic updater to access "www.bulk-pagerank-checker.com" on port 80, so that the updater may connect to that site in order to check for updates. It's not necessary to enable the Automatic updater for the program to work, but it really helps to keep #1 Bulk PageRank Checker up to date if you wanna get good results.
